People often choose a counsellor based on the About page.

bout Page

I would make this page much more personal than many counsellors do.

About Me

Hello, I'm [Your Name].

I believe that healing and growth often begin when we feel genuinely heard, seen, valued, and understood.

My approach to counselling is grounded in warmth, empathy, and authentic connection. I aim to create a space where you can bring all parts of yourself without fear of judgement or needing to have everything figured out.

Life can present us with challenges that leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about the way forward. In our work together, I offer a supportive and collaborative relationship where we can explore your experiences, deepen self-understanding, and discover pathways towards meaningful change.

My Approach

I work from a person-centred foundation, believing that each person has their own inner wisdom and capacity for growth.

Alongside this, I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches to support the unique needs of each individual or couple. My focus is on creating a counselling experience that feels safe, respectful, and tailored to you.

A Little About Me

This is where I'd add a paragraph that sounds like you rather than a textbook.

For example:

Outside of counselling, I value connection, personal growth, and creating spaces where people feel welcomed and accepted. I understand that reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside people during important moments in their lives.

****

Through my love of New Zealand's natural landscapes, I am continually reminded that growth does not need to be rushed. Like water, we can learn to move around obstacles, adapt to change, and find our own path forward.

(You'll probably want to make this even more personal once we draft it properly.)

Qualifications and Professional Memberships

Bachelor of ...

NZAC Membership

Relevant training

Professional supervision

Ongoing professional development

One thing I'd suggest: on your Home page, lead with "heard, seen, valued and understood." It's beautiful and memorable.

On your About page, I'd expand on why those words matter to you. That is where prospective clients start to get a sense of the person behind Gentle Flow Counselling and decide whether they feel comfortable reaching out. That's often more important than a long list of techniques or qualifications.

********************

When I'm not counselling, you'll often find me enjoying the outdoors, spending time with family, or exploring New Zealand's walking tracks. As a mum of two young adults, I understand that life's journey is filled with both challenges and moments of growth.

I like the third version because it feels warm and relatable without implying that being a parent is your qualification.

For your website, I can imagine your About page having roughly this flow:

About Me

Welcome and counselling philosophy

My Approach

Person-centred foundation

How you work with clients

A Little About Me

Love of tramping and nature

That creates a nice balance between professional credibility and personal warmth, which feels very aligned with the atmosphere you're wanting to create through Gentle Flow Counselling.

A space where you don't need to have it all together.

A space where you can simply be yourself and feel heard, seen, valued, and understood.

*****

My own experiences of grief, cancer, adoption, parenting, and life's unexpected challenges have deepened my understanding of vulnerability, resilience, and hope. These experiences continue to shape the compassion and empathy I bring to my counselling work.
